Business of the SIJ Group in the first half of 2016 and changes in the management of certain affiliate companies

The SIJ Group made 413.9m sales income in the first half of 2016 (13.5% increase compared to the same period of last year), EBITDA of 60.1m EUR (14.5% increase) and net profit of 24.6m EUR. The Group improved its profitability since EBITDA margin in the first six months was 14.5% (increase of 3.2 percentage points). The SIJ Group’s assets have been increased by 288.1m EUR to 1.1b EUR.

The outflow for investments has been increased in the first six months to 51.4m EUR (compared to 35m last year), which is related to the realisation of two large investment projects into SIJ Acroni (launch of a new heat treatment line of heavy plates - hot launch realised in July 2016) and the continuation of investing into AOD line. The Group realised 82.8% of planned annual investment outflows in the first half of the year.

The successful operation of the SIJ Group will be in the hands of the newly appointed directors of certain affiliate companies. Mr Peter Čas, Msc, who was the general manager of SIJ Ravne Systems, will be responsible for the leadership of SIJ Acroni as of 1 September 2016. Mr Samo Jenič, who was the executive director for finances in SIJ Metal Ravne, will replace Mr Čas as the general manager of SIJ Ravne Systems. Mr Blaž Jasnič shall no longer be in the head office of SIJ Acroni and will be named general director of SIJ Elektrode Jesenice. The current director of this company, Mr Jakob Borštnar, shall assume the function of a technical director.

All newly appointed directors are from the SIJ Group and are therefore very familiar with the operation of the affiliate companies and shall continue their current strategy of operations and development.

ANNEX - short CVs of the newly appointed directors of affiliate companies

Mr PETER ČAS, MSc: He received his BA and MSc degrees at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering in Ljubljana. He later finished various programmes at IEDC - Bled School of Management. He began his professional career at Gorenje where he led several departments and also worked as a technical director. He joined the SIJ Group in 2014 as the general director of Noži Ravne. After the SIJ Group successfully acquired the company Sistemska tehnika, he also led the merger of Noži Ravne, Serpa and Sistemska tehnika into the new joint company SIJ Ravne Systems. He shall become the general director of SIJ Acroni on 1 September.

Mr SAMO JENIČ: He graduated at the Faculty of Economics, University of Ljubljana. He began his career as a financial analyst in the Teseus consulting company. He continued as a financial analyst and planner at the American multinational company Mars Inc. and later on at Hervis Slovenia, a sports equipment chain, where he worked as the controlling and finance manager. He joined the SIJ Group in 2008 as the executive director for finance at SIJ Metal Ravne. He cooperated at the purchase of Sistemske tehnike and merger of Noži Ravne, Serpa and Sistemska tehnika into the new joint company SIJ Ravne Systems. He shall become the general director of SIJ Ravne Systems on 1 September.

Mr BLAŽ JASNIČ: He graduated at the Faculty of Economics, University of Ljubljana. In 2015 he successfully concluded the postgraduate programme at the international Bled School of Management (IEDC) and acquired the title MBA. He began his professional career in 1992 at SIJ Acroni where he went from a shift production manager to project manager and he also led the department for investments and was the director’s first assistant. He led SIJ Acroni until 2014. He shall become the general director of SIJ Elektrode Jesenice on 1 September.
